“Because manuscripts are over done.” About our company: Femuscripts, a South Florida producing company, was founded in September, 2022, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by actor/writer/producer Laurie Tanner, improviser Alicia Garcia, and actor/singer Brooke Lynn White. They are dedicated to producing plays that are written by women, female-identifying, and non-binary playwrights. A tongue-in-cheek look at how AI can be used for therapy, the film short Athena's Wisdom follows Mimi, who has extrem social anxiety, as she struggles to prepare for a casual encounter with a friend. Her therapist Athena eventually finds a way to encourage Mimi to overcome her fear of human contact. Athena's Grace will be shown at FilmGate Miami's Free-For-All Festival at the Silverspot Cinema in downtown Miami on January 28, 2026.

Stubborn Grace is a short film that centers around Smiley, a homeless woman who hasn't gotten up from her favorite bench for weeks. Phil, a social worker who know her, talks to her to understand why. As he coaxes and cajoles her into confiding in him, Smiley reveals the truth. The film is based on a true life experience of Michael Aulbach, CEO of Project Soar, which provides services to the unhoused. Scrrenplay and direction by Laurie Tanner, Director of photography Angela Andronache. Smiley is played by Laurie Tanner, and Phil by Randy Coleman.
Stubborn Grace is an official selection at several film festivals and won Best Women Director at the Frames of New York Festival.

A play about complex family interactions in the 1980s, The Kenmore Hotel, by Gloria Katz, , was produced in 2024 at Sol Theatre in Boca Raton, in 2023. Marcie Hall portrays Selda and Vicki Klein is Rose, her manipulative but charming mother. Selda finds herself torn between trying to appease her cantankerous husband Joe, and offering her mother some respite from the Kenmore Hotel,whichprovides seasonal lodgings for the elderly.

The Equivalent of Sensation, by Arianna Rose, was produced by Femuscripts, and directed by Carey Brianna Hart, both at The Sandrell Rivers Theater, in Miami, and at Sol Theatre in Boca Raton, in 2023. Pictured here is Celine Hakoun, who played the lead role of the real-life Etta Cone, an early-20th Century repressed art collector who finds liberation in a return to life at a Baltimore Museum in the early 2000s.
